Nacogdoches
Dragons' Kendle Hall will continue his career on the court
in college.
The 5-11
senior point guard signed a letter of intent to play for
Tyler Junior College.
On a lot of
high school teams, Hall would have been the go-to guy and
star of the team.
At
Nacogdoches, he played along prominent scorers such as
Damion James and Jinski Grigsby and was looked upon to play
a leader's role.
According to
Hall, playing with guys such as that has helped him develop.
"It helped me
a lot," Hall said.
"He has sort
of taken a back seat in high school," TJC head coach Mike
Marquis said. "He has played with some good players, but
that will help his skill level blossom more in college."
Hall has
proven he has the ability to create scoring chances for
teammates and to score himself.
IHall has
totaled more than 1,000 points and 1,000 assists in his
four-year career.
"He is a good
guard and a great player," NHS head coach Mark Richardson
said. "He is one of the best point guards I've ever
coached."
He was a
three-year starter and helped lead the Dragons to a 91-37
record, including a 22-10 mark as a senior.
He was also
named to the Class 4A Region 3 All-Region Team as a senior.
He helped guide Nacogdoches to the regional semifinals as a
junior and regional quarterfinals as a senior.
Hall will join
an Apache squad that finished 17-14 and advanced to the
Region XIV semifinals last season.
Marquis likes
what he sees in Hall as a player and a person.
"First and
foremost, he is a terrific person," Marquis said. "You don't
have to be around him long to know that he is a thoughtful,
caring and bright young man.
"As a player,
he can play both positions (point guard and shooting guard)
real well. He can handle the ball and has the ability to
drive to the basket. He is a good three-point shooter and
has the ability to be a primary scorer at the two-guard
position at the junior college level because of his
quickness, toughness and athleticism."
Hall said he
enjoyed his experience as a Nacogdoches Dragon basketball
player under Richardson.
"It was a
great experience," Hall said. "I learned a lot and grew a
lot, and we also won a lot."
He is also
looking forward to his future at the college level.
"It (TJC)
seemed like the right place for me to go," Hall said. "I
like the coach, and my mom wanted me to go there.
"I plan on
graduating from TJC, and going on to play at a big-time
basketball college."
