The third annual Space City Three Stripe Tournament Recap
The third annual Space
City Three Stripe Tournament finished off the second and
final day of play Wednesday afternoon at The Gym in Humble,
Texas. Several AAU teams from the Greater Houston Area were
in attendance as well as several college scouts.
The game of the day was
between the Westside All-Stars and the Houston Elite, which
came down to the wire. The Elite squad started the game off
on a 17-2 run and looked as if they would blow away the
competition. However, the All-Stars started eliminating
turnovers that were killing them in the beginning due to an
intense Elite full court press. The All-Stars put together
a 7-2 run late in the first half to cut their deficit to 12
heading into halftime.
The All-Stars came out
strong after halftime and put together a 10-2 run to swing
the momentum in their favor. However, with time winding down
the All-Stars found themselves still down but not out.
Westside’s Collin Buteaux converted a
four-point play knocking down a three pointer after making
one of two at the line. The All-Stars however could not slow
down the offense of Elite’s Dominique Adams
who dropped in 13 points and Brandon Thomas
who added another 10. The Elite went on to win 45-43.
Buteaux and Richardson led the way for the
All-Stars with ten points each.
