Houston Elite Chris Gradnigo Signs with UL-Lafayette

November 8, 2006
Reported by Jordan Sandler

He could be a Bearcat, a Razorback or possibly even a Tiger.  But Chris Gradnigo wants to be a Cajun.

"Now I'm a Cajun, baby!" exclaimed the LaGrange High School senior after signing his letter of intent to play basketball at UL-Lafayette.

The 6'7 forward was a star player at St. Louis the last three years, but transfered to LaGrange for his senior season.

Gradnigo received offers from several schools including the University of Cincinnatti and the University of Arkansas.  But he decided on UL-Lafayette, primarily because his godfather is one of the assistant coaches.

For Gradnigo, the sweetest part of this signing day was the realization that he would be continuing an important tradition in his family of attending college. Chris played for Houston Elite Reebok travel team when his recruiting took off.
